Last night, Candyleggs and I spent an evening with the Post Family, last night. Last night. Last night. Local Chicago Sonnenzimmer screen printer Nick Butcher performed his lowercase sound collages in the Family's industrial warehouse-inspired Family Room.
It's always exciting to watch Nick craft his music. A chemist concocting sonic textures, he visualizes collaged landscapes out of the aural aether with his old tape machines, records and keyboards. I wish I had recorded the entire performance, but here's a snippet:

Unfortunately we missed the majority of a seance by self-proclaimed "Elementary Princess of Evil" Ryan Ingebritsen and Erica Dicker, but what we heard was nice. Katherine Young was also there playing her bassoon filtered through some effects. It was a compelling set of the improv noise of her intensely visceral avant-garde compositions, with a great interpretation of an Arthur Russell piece (see video below). Check out her blog to find out more about her performances and various projects.
